Barker Middle School: Parent Invite to Lunch with a Family STEM Challenge

Each quarter of the school year, Barker Middle School hosts a “Parent Invite to Lunch” where parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or any adult advocate may come and have lunch in the gym with their student. Guests may bring in an outside lunch on these days to share with their student. A family STEM Challenge is also available to either compete during the lunch or take home to compete as a family. Barker sets the four dates at the beginning of the school year and makes sure each one of the four is on a different day of the week to accommodate working parents. A flyer is created with the dates so that families may plan ahead for upcoming dates. In years past, some of the planned dates are during American Education Week, National Engineers Week, and a date in April to celebrate Earth Day.
